Wanda Colleen Fruhwirth-Long, 76, of Ft Collins, CO, went home peacefully to Jesus on September 8, 2019. She was born to the late Joseph P. and Violet I. Fruhwirth, April 26, 1943, in Fort Collins, CO. Wanda graduated from Windsor High School in 1961.
Wanda is survived by two children: Brian Long of Black Hawk and DeAnne Engle and Son-in-law Mark of Loveland. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Nick Long and wife Mary of Federick, Scott Long of Cheyenne, WY, Madison, Morgan, and Truxtun Engle of Loveland. She is survived by three siblings: Velma McFarland and husband Buddy of Ft. Collins, Lavelda McFarland of Carr, and Howard Fruhwirth of North Dakota. She is preceded in death by both her parents, her grandson Cody Engle and two brothers: John Fruhwirth and Raymond Fruhwirth.
Wanda grew up on a farm in Windsor. Even after being away from the farm for so many years, it was always in her heart when she spoke or thought of it (she even decorated her small apartment “farm style”.) She worked her entire adult life in the medical field as a CNA: Serving in the burn unit at the Greeley Hospital, providing Home-health care and Hospice. She eventually retired from the Good Samaritan after a long career taking care of others who were incapable of taking care of themselves. Wanda was a loving mother who had a servant’s heart, she was generous, a warrior for God, and always faithful in giving God’s Word to her children and grandchildren. She has been and will be greatly missed by many. Wanda was loved by those she served and she is loved by those who served her through the end of her journey home.
The Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at Viegut Funeral Home in Loveland, Colorado on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 11:00am with a reception to follow in the Viegut Reception Center.
