Vergene “Jean” Bell Maloney was born on December 28, 1939 in Hugo, Colorado, to Mina and Ralph Orville “Pete” Welton. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 30, 2019. She was a proud child of Christ and enjoyed attending church as often as possible. She worked at Good Samaritan as a nurse’s aide in Loveland, CO for 28 years until retiring. She resided at Good Sam since 2014. She was a loving mother to her only son, Tony Maloney and thoroughly enjoyed every moment she got to spend with her family, both immediate and extended. She had a passion for working with her hands and creating beauty through gardening, crocheting, embroidering, and hand-making Christmas ornaments. Jean loved bingo and she would never pass up a good Old Western film, most importantly John Wayne movies. In her later years, she found joy in collecting stuffed animals but never hesitated to give one away to a child she encountered. She was a child at heart, and her love knew no bounds. Her sharp wit and charm never failed to keep her loved-ones on their toes and laughing with her every time they met.
Jean is proceeded in death by her mother, Mina Welton, father, Ralph Orville “Pete” Welton, and favorite brother-in-law, Andy Franek. She is survived by her son, Tony Maloney (Pam), granddaughters, Kady and Jacey, sister, Eileen Harms (Greg), nieces, Cheri Feuerstein and Deb Huffsmith (Rob), nephew, Bob Franek (Debbie), 2 great-nieces, 5 great-nephews, 2 great-great-nieces, and 1 great-great-nephew.
A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held at the Loveland Good Samaritan Village Spiritual Life Center on February 7, 2019 at 2:00 pm with reception following.
