Stanley “Stan” Wood, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away after a sudden illness on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 with his family by his side. Stan was born on April 4, 1960 in Denver, Colorado to loving parents Lyle and Ilene Wood (both deceased). He grew up in Arvada, Colorado along with his only sister Karmie (Hilleary). Stan loved to make people laugh and was known as the “barbeque master” for all who would gather, whether at his home or others.
In 1986 he would meet the love of his life, Jodene “Jodi” Gates where he impressed her with his humor and wit. They married in 1987 and relocated to Fort Collins, CO where they started their family and raised their two children, Kyle (28) and Brianna (27).
Stan loved spending time with his family; travelling and hiking with Jodi, golfing and fishing with Kyle, and attending concerts with Brianna. As an avid Colorado Avalanche fan, one of his favorite family pastimes was watching the games, either live or televised, with the entire Wood family. Of his various travels, his “happy place” was Disney World and his favorite get-a-way spot was taking in the majestic scenery of Estes Park. Stan had many talents and to many he was known as a legendary bowler. He was ever present in both his immediate and extended family’s milestone events bringing with him his characteristic humor.
He leaves, to mourn his passing, his wife of 32 years, Jodi Wood of Ft. Collins, CO; son Kyle, daughter Brianna and sister Karmie (and husband Don) Hilleary of Highlands Ranch, CO. He also leaves behind a large extended family, and a community of close friends and colleagues by whom he will be dearly missed.
Memorial Mass to be held at Saint John XXIII Catholic Parish on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 10:00AM with the retired Father Don Willette officiating. Reception to immediately follow in the narthex of the Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Stan’s honor.
