Richard "Rick" Charles Dempsey II

June 11, 1960 ~ May 24, 2019 (age 58)

On Friday May 24, 2019 Richard “Rick” Dempsey, loving husband and father of 5 children passed away at the age of 58. Rick was born June 11, 1960 in Iowa City, Iowa. He was adopted by Richard and Janet (Ames) Dempsey on July 1, 1960. He was the joy of our lives. Rick grew up in Dubuque, Iowa. He attended Eisenhower Grade School and Washington Junior High. In August 1974, the family moved to Fort Collins. Rick fell in love with Colorado and although the family moved to Minnesota, Rick remained in Colorado.

Rick had just finished his Master’s Degree in Information Technology Management and was set to receive his degree this June. He loved learning all that he could regarding the IT world and we are infinitely proud of his accomplishments. Rick also had a love of food, traveling, helping others, his best friend and dog Dakota, and most importantly his grandchildren. They were the light of his life. He would give you the shirt off his back no matter where that left him. Rick loved to wander the beaches and explore all things new. He loved to reminisce past memories, especially those in which he was right, and loved to pick fun at those who were not. On beautiful days he would drive with his windows down and his music so loud that you could hear it six cars away, all the while, his hair would remain pristinely in place.

Rick was preceded in death by his father Richard Dempsey, grandparents Philp & Mabel Ames, Charles & Lillian Dempsey, mother-in-law Barbara Mares, and grandchild Nash Trostel, as well as aunts and uncles. He is survived by his beloved wife Debbie, his mother Janet, and his children Sarah Dempsey, Caitlin Dempsey, Richard Dempsey III, Ryan & Liz Findley, and Andrea & Tyler Trostel. As well as four grandchildren Elianna Dempsey, Tate, Coen and Tess Trostel.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday May 30, 2019 at Foundations Church, 1380 N. Denver Ave, Loveland, CO 80537. If you’d like to contribute, the family has set up a memorial fund and you can place donations online to the AFSP, https://afsp.donordrive.com/campaign/RickDempseyMemorial
