Corporal Michael Bruce Squibb, 60, of Loveland, CO died January 14, 2018 after a two-year battle with cancer.
Michael was born April 15, 1957 to Robert L. and Darline J. Squibb in Greeley, Colorado. He lived in Greeley from 1957 to 1970 when the family moved to Black Hawk, Colorado. Michael graduated from Golden High School in 1975 and entered the Marine Corp and graduated from Boot Camp in San Diego with Platoon 3001. He served as an aviator, was a CH-530 helicopter mechanic and became a crew chief with HMH-462 (heavy haulers) 1st MAW. After his military service, Michael worked in the railroad industry in construction and maintenance as an equipment operator and also as part of the operating department as a locomotive engineer (steam and diesel), a fireman, and a conductor. Michael worked for Great Western Railroad and Georgetown Loop Railroad. Michael moved to Loveland in 1992 to be near family and care for his parents.
Michael enjoyed spending time and taking Jeep trips with his family, researching family and military history, Colorado mining and railroad history, gold prospecting with his brother Robert, and animals.
Michael is survived by his brother Robert T. Squibb and Marcia J. Squibb.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Marine Corps League, Loveland Detachment 1250; Wounded Warriors; or Larimer County Humane Society.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, CO.
