Max Roy Hastings was born on June 1, 1943 in Winfield, Kansas. His parents were Joe and Calvena Hastings. The family later moved to Longmont, Colorado. He had five brothers and three sisters. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1961. Following high school, Max joined the Navy for a total of six years as a radio man. He married Ruth Ann (Sikes) Hastings on December 31, 1961. Max served at Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan for two years. He was then stationed at Norfolk, Virginia and Portsmouth, Virginia.
After returning to Colorado in 1965, he worked as a carpenter’s apprentice, and worked at Beachcraft. He was then employed at IBM for thirty years as an operational engineer. After retiring from IBM, he worked for HP and Colorado Time.
Max built his own cabin at Storm Mountain, enjoyed church, photography, hiking, woodworking, and his family. He loved traveling with his wife, Ruth, and took many trips to Hawaii. He cruised to Alaska, and the Panama Canal. His favorite place to visit, however, was Israel.
Max is survived by three daughters, Shelly and her husband Dale Crider, Deatra and her husband Russ Hamilton, Kristina and her husband Dave Platt. He has seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Max’s battle with lung and bone cancer started two years ago. Since then God has used this journey in many ways.Many supernatural events happened throughout the course of Max’s battle. God used his illness to encourage others. Above all else, Max loved Jesus.
Max would be honored by your presence at the memorial services which will be held Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 11:00 AM with a viewing beginning at 9:00 AM at Hope Baptist Church located at 5688 McWhinney Blvd at the Loveland Outlets in Loveland, Colorado.
