Mary Helen Lafferty
October 9, 1946 – April 15, 2018
Mary Helen Lafferty was born in Denver, Colorado, to John Robert Botterill and Helen Josephine (Becker) Botterill. Mary loved her family and her animals. She was a skilled and efficient homemaker. Her daughters were raised from her own fresh farm produce and dairy products. She loved to share her culinary specialties with her family and friends.
Mary enjoyed adventurous trail rides together with her horse and friends. She adored these excursions. If the day was forecasted as a good one, Mary was out the gate and down the road with her trailer and riding partner, headed for one of her many favorite trails. She was often puttering around her little homestead. Mary kept a tidy, homey niche for her family to visit and her pets to thrive.
Mary had a witty sense of humor that balanced her strong character. She was methodical and loyal, loving and caring. Mary touched the lives of many people. There is a deep void where she once filled the room with her vibrant presence
Mary’s work at CSU Veterinary Hospital meant the world to her. Her colleges were family to her and she to them. Her personal life blended with her professional life and completely expressed the passion in her soul. She saved and cared for people and animals who others had given up on. Mary was an exceptional care giver and is irreplaceable for those who knew her.
She is survived by: Julie Lafferty and Liam (Daughter and Grandson), Stephanie Birkeland (Daughter), Dagfinn Birkeland (Son-in-Law), Mary, Steffen, and Thomas (Grandchildren).
Memorial services will be held on April 25, 2018 at River of Life Fellowship in Wellington, CO at 10:00am.
