Margaret "Maggie" Ellen Cheyne

October 1, 1935 ~ November 5, 2019 (age 84)


Margaret “Maggie” Ellen Cheyne of Loveland, passed away November 5, 2019 at the Medical Center of the Rockies. She was born October 1, 1935 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Francis and Ivy Swassing in her Great Grandmother’s, Margaret Ellen Burnes, home. She married John “Jack” Cheyne on June 25, 1955 in Augusta, Georgia.  They moved to Loveland in August of 1961 from Tarkio, Missouri.

Maggie worked for the Thompson School District from 1976 until 2000. She started at Big Thompson School District until 1978 when she became the Media Center Assistant at Walt Clark Middle School when the school was first opened.  In 1984 she became the School secretary at Walt Clark Middle School until 1998 at which time she became the secretary at Lucile Erwin Middle School when it was opened in 1999. 

She attended the Evangelical Covenant Church and Crossroads Church in Loveland.  She was a member of the Philo Club where she served as President in 1973-1974, and she took an active part in bringing the Belle Bonfils Blood Bank center to Loveland.  She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, and entertaining Family at her home.

Her greatest love and interest were her husband Jack of almost 60 years before he passed in 2013, her three daughters, five grandchildren, 1 great grandson who she met for the first time just a few weeks ago and all her amazing friends of over 50 years and the Coaches wives club where they would get together at least once a year.

She is survived by her 3 daughters and her son in laws, Pam and Gregg White of Falmouth, England, Amy and Dean Calhoun of Broomfield and Meg and Tim Dyer of Loveland. Her amazing 5 Grandchildren, Ashley Calhoun of Boulder, Colorado, Corey and his wife Caroline O’Connor-Dyer of New York, NY, Annie Calhoun, of  Portland, OR, Shane Calhoun of Colorado Springs, CO and Austin Dyer of Loveland, CO and Fiancé Gabriella Ferro, Kansas City, MO and her new beautiful Grandson, Connor Dyer, New York, NY. Her Brother in Law, Bill and Charlene Cheyne, of Aurora, CO and Many Nieces and Nephews and Cousins.

A Celebration of life Open House with Family and Friends will be November 23, 2019 from 2:00-5:00 pm at Tim and Meg Dyer’s house at 3851 South County Road 21, Loveland, CO  80537. Please join us for a celebration of her favorite food group, Dessert. 

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be paid to the Lucile Erwin Middle School.
