Lyn Ellen Emmons

October 3, 1949 ~ November 21, 2018 (age 69)

Lyn Ellen Emmons, 69, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on November 21, 2018. She was born October 3, 1949, in Pierre, South Dakota, she was the youngest of 5 children born to Alfred and Reita Bechard.  Lyn graduated from Presho High School in 1967 and started working for a trucking company in Rapid City, South Dakota.  She was later transferred to Denver, Colorado where she eventually met her late husband, John.  They married on July 20, 1974, in Las Vegas and were married for 33 years until his death.

Lyn was a woman who lived well, laughed often and loved much.  She enjoyed hunting with her husband before her sons were born.  Lyn worked for the Thompson School District as a Resource Science Technician for 24 years before retiring in 2016.  She thoroughly enjoyed watching her sons participate in sports.  Lyn could be frequently found taking her sons to bowling tournaments when they were younger.  She had a love for animals, particularly dachshunds, and never met an animal she didn’t like.

The last chapter in Lyn’s life truly showcased her strength, compassion and how at peace she was with her life.  She fought lung cancer courageously for over two years before succumbing to it.  She was incredible at everything; as a friend, a daughter, a sister, a wife, and an amazing mother.

She is survived by her two sons, Alan of Olathe, Kansas, and Matthew of Loveland, Colorado; sister Karen Gilman (Jim) of Kennebec, South Dakota; brother-in-laws Dick Oller (Beth) of Vivian, South Dakota, and Bill Laufenberg (Joanne) of Whitewood, South Dakota.  She also leaves behind so many caring relatives and friends.  Lyn is now reunited with her husband, John, sisters Beth Oller and Joanne Laufenberg, brother Karl Bechard, half-brother Jerry Carlson, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at Viegut Funeral Home on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with viewing at 10:00 A.M.  A reception will be held at the Viegut Reception Center following the services.
