Ken Erbes, 80, of Loveland, CO died Saturday, June 15, 2019 at LeMay Avenue Health and Rehabilitation in Fort Collins after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Ken was born on March 1, 1939 to John Erbes, Jr. and Leoda (Kamerzell) of Windsor, CO.
Ken Erbes graduated in 1960 from Windsor High School in Windsor, CO. He enlisted into the Army Airforce in December 19, 1961. On October 14, 1967, Ken married Kathleen (Hamilton) Erbes in Eaton, CO. They moved to Loveland in 1982. As a youth, Ken lived on a farm and was the oldest of 7 brothers and sisters. As a young adult, he worked many different jobs. He was the proudest of owning his own business, Wood Re-Nu Furnishing Company.
Ken was the most thrilled when they purchased their camper, so they could enjoy the outdoors as he loved to go camping and fishing in the mountains. He was a strong believer in his Christian faith and as his illness progressed, loved to spend time with his beloved dog, Potter.
Ken is survived by his three daughters, Roxanne Norris (Mike) of Fort Collins, Shelly Lunder (Tom) of Loveland, and Jerri Kay Van Zanten (Brian) of Fort Collins; two sisters, Kathleen Schraeder (Kenneth D) of Greeley, and Barbara Erbes of Windsor; two brothers, Earl Erbes of Greeley and Gary Erbes (Robin) of Windsor; six grandchildren, four great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathy, sisters Karen McKelvey and Janet Erbes.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 4pm-6pm at Viegut Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment with Military Honors will be held at Loveland Burial Park on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 2:00pm with a reception at the Viegut Funeral Home Reception Center immediately following the interment.
