Joyce Maureen Hutson Artman

June 10, 1932 ~ March 4, 2018 (age 85)

JOYCE MAUREEN HUTSON (ARTMAN) WAS BORN JUNE 10TH 1932 TO HERBERT HUTSON SR AND DOROTHEA HUTSON (FRIDLUND) IN THE SMALL TOWN OF BERNIE, MISSOURI.

JOYCE GREW UP WITH HER TWO SIBLINGS HERBERT HUTSON JR AND EILEEN JO HUTSON (DAUBS) WHO PROCEEDED HER IN DEATH ALONG WITH HER PARENTS. JOYCE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY A HALF SISTER JACKIE OF NEW YORK.

JOYCE WORKED AT THE FAMILY CONVENIENCE STORE IN BERNIE AND EVEN PICKED COTTON TO HELP PAY HER TUITION FOR SCHOOL. JOYCE WAS ALWAYS PASSIONATE ABOUT HER EDUCATION AND NUMBERS EVEN GRADUATING AS VALEVICTORIAN OF BERNIE HIGH SCHOOL IN 1950. THE FOLLOWING YEAR SHE MARRIED THE LOVE OF HER LIFE RICHARD “DICK” ARTMAN AN AVIATION MACHINIST MATE SECOND CLASS. THEY LIVED IN SAN FRANCISCO, HICKAM FIELD, HONOLULU, HAWAII, OKINAWA, JAPAN AND OREGON. IN THOSE YEARS LIVING ON BASE SHE FOUND HER LOVE FOR ALL THINGS COUNTRY INCLUDING WESTERN WEAR WHEN DICK WAS A COWBOY AND COUNTY MUSIC HER FAVORITE BEING THE LEGENDARY JOHNNY CASH.

AFTER HER DIVORCE IN 1968 SHE CAME HOME TO ELGIN, ILLINOIS AND HER BELOVED MOTHER DOROTHEA. SHE WAS ONE OF THE ORIGINAL FEMINISTS BEING A SINGLE INDEPENDENT CAREER WOMEN WORKING OVER 30 YEARS AT THE BANK OF ELGIN.  JOYCE ALSO WORKED IN ACCOUNTING AND REAL ESTATE IN SCHAUMBURG, ILLINOIS FOR YEARS BEFORE RETIRING AT AGE 81.

AFTER A HIP INJURY JOYCE MOVED FROM ELGIN TO NORTHERN COLORADO TO BE NEAR HER NIECE AND EXTENDED FAMILY.

JOYCE PASSED PEACEFULLY ON SUNDAY, MARCH 4TH 2018 AFTER A LONG LIFE FULL OF ADVENTURE AND FAMILY.

JOYCE WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR HER LEGACY OF KINDNESS, INTELLIGENCE, GENEROSITY AND THE MANY NIECES, NEPHEWS, GREAT NIECES, GREAT NEPHEWS AND GREAT GREAT NEPHEWS SHE LEAVES BEHIND.

PRIVATE SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS WE ASK DONATIONS BE MADE TO JOYCE’S ASSISTED LIVING HOME WHERE AUNT JOYCE HAD EXCELLENT CARE AND FRIENDS IN BOTH RESIDENTS AND STAFF. DONATIONS CAN BE MADE TO LIVE TO ASSIST 2914 W. PROSPECT RD, FORT COLLINS, COLORADO 80526.  AUNT JOYCE WILL BE LOVED AND MISSED ALWAYS.
