John is survived by his wife of 62 years Ruby; daughter Joyce (Jeff); son Mark and son Greg (Michelle, Leo, Gabe and Laura); granddaughters Molly (Jason) and Amanda; and great-granddaughter Avery.
He was born in Elmhurst, IL. As a young boy, John moved with his family to the west. He grew up living and working on Dude Ranches, one of them being the Buckhorn Mountain Guest Ranch. This opportunity instilled the love of nature and the mountains in John.
John received his degree of Engineering from Colorado University, lived in California for a short time while in the National Guard before returning to Loveland, CO and joining Hewlett Packard. Where for over 33 years, John worked while always making time for sailing, travelling to all four corners of the US, motor biking with his longtime friends, enjoying family and friends before retiring and focusing on the cabin and family he loved. He was always there with a “yes” when anyone was in need.
John “Pops” as we called him, told a great story, loved talking to just about anyone and would stir up conversations with strangers that would become longtime friendships, lasting over several decades.
Our hearts are broken at the loss of this wonderful man, a great father, husband and friend. So go outside, close your eyes and feel the sun on your face…he would.
A Celebration Gathering for family and friends will be held in the Viegut Reception Center on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 2:00pm-4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice under his name.
