Jean Renwick Paul

March 22, 1933 ~ June 28, 2019 (age 86)

On Friday, June 28, 2019, Jean Renwick Paul passed away following a long bout of fighting chronic medical problems. In her final days, Jean was attentively cared for by the team from both Pathways Hospice and Good Samaritan Village – Fort Collins.  Jean is survived by a loving husband, Richard Paul; a brother, Erle Renwick, and sister, Dorothy Wurlitzer; a daughter, Susan Lamontagne: a son and wife, James & Nancy Elwell; a daughter and husband, Elizabeth & Michael Pierce; and a step-son and –daughter, Shawn and Patty Elworthy,. She is also survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. It is our belief that Jean now rests sweetly and peacefully in the arms of The Lord Our Father.

Jean grew up in Maine with four brothers and sisters:  Paul, Erle, Dorothy, and Robert.  She attended private education in high school at Gould Academy. She was married to Richard E. Elwell for 25 years.  Jean was married to Alden V. Schenck for 10 years.  She later married her sweetheart, Richard Paul, while living at Park Regency Assisted Living in Loveland, Colorado.

Jean is best remembered for her kindness and grace; quick wit and sense of humor; ability to laugh and be playful; and her strong belief in the Lord.  Jean grew up in a very musical and spiritual family where she learned to play the piano and sing.  Jean’s voice was the most beautiful voice that we had ever heard—it literally stopped our breaths!  Jean’s take on life was quite different from many.  Reading scripture every day, she believed that there was a positive aspect and outcome to every single situation in her life through the power of God.  She had no time for the negative or untruths, and was patient in helping others to follow the same path that she did.

Jean has lived in many Earthy places, and has loved them all – especially Ocean Point, Maine.  It is our belief that she is living in a similar peaceful and serene place where no pain, sorrow or grief exists.  I imagine Mom in the Ocean Point cottage with the open terrace kitchen windows wide open….Mom looking out upon the ocean with the breeze sweeping in upon her face. That look on her face I will never forget.  Peace, love, joy.  Mom is there now. We love you, Mom!  We love you, Jean!  We love you, Grammey!

A memorial service with reception following will be held at the Fort Collins Good Samaritan Village, 508 W. Trilby, Fort Collins, Colorado on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 beginning at 2:00 P.M.
