Frances, fondly known as Rosie, grew up on a farm near DeSmet, and graduated high school there. She met the love of her life, Edward J. Engel, in October 1951 at the Arkota Ballroom in Sioux Falls, SD. They were married in DeSmet on April 17, 1952. They lived in Sioux Fallsuntil moving to Loveland 1964. Rosie was a full-time mom until she began working at Hewlett Packard in 1969. She worked in the Purchasing until retirement in 1990. In 1997 they moved to Apache Junction and returned to Loveland for the summers toescape the heat of Arizona. They moved back to Loveland in 2016 to be near family.

Rosie enjoyed dancing in her early married years, but came to love polka dancing the most. She had that Irish-German flare, and will always be remembered for her warmth and kindness.
