On February 25, 2019 Dorothy “Dottie” Hinrichs passed leaving behind her husband of 65 years (Len) and her 3 children (David, Rich, and Diane). Her services will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish, 1730 W. 12th Street, Loveland, CO on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers please send plants or cards.
Dottie was born in South Dakota in 1932 but spent her early years in Hastings, NE. After marriage she moved to Illinois and then the whole family relocated to Colorado in 1971. Hinrichs Fabrics became a well-known destination for many area seamstresses. After closing the store, Dottie turned her hand to numbers. Working for the Social Security Administration and then the IRS put those skills to good use. She discovered her love of taxes and eventually turned that into D&H Tax Service. For the last few years she spent her life taking care of family and embroidering.
The loves of her life were: family, cocker spaniels, sewing, taxes, embroidery, and quilting (not necessarily in that order). She touched many people's hearts through her exceptional ability to do taxes and earned the nickname of "Tax Mom" because she worked to help people as much as she could. Her life was sometimes scheduled around hockey especially the Colorado Avalanche. She loved hockey so much that she would plan appointments so that she was home for the game and don't even try to call her! Nightly cutting and piecing together of quilts filled her time during hockey games. (Needless to say there are a lot of unfinished quilts). Creating machine or hand embroidered gifts for people brought her great joy. She passed away wishing she had her sewing machine with her to do more embroidery.
The fact that she was always there for her husband, kids, and those she interacted with will make her greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
