Dorothea Katherine Stein Dunn Barrett

February 18, 1922 ~ February 4, 2019 (age 96)

Dorothea K. Barrett, 96 years old, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2019 at Good Samaritan Village in Loveland, CO.  She was born February 18, 1922 in Garnett, KS to Edward and Frieda Smith Stein.  She attended school in Garnett, KS, where she met her husband Raymond Dunn.  They were married on June 5, 1939.  They moved to Loveland in June of 1947 with their two sons and daughter.

Dorothea was a homemaker and raised their three children.  She managed the books for Ray’s painting business until his death on February 22, 1978.   After his death, she went to work for KWAL Paint in Loveland, CO.  She later met Gene Barrett at a senior singles group and they were married on November 11, 1983.  Gene and Dorothea loved to travel and even become “full timers” for several years seeing many places in the United States, Canada and Alaska.  Gene passed away in April 1999.

She was very well known for her talent as an excellent seamstress, cook, gardener, Girl Scout Leader and love for her Dachshund Dogs. She also loved camping, fishing and big game hunting.

Dorothea is survived by her children Derald Dunn/Kathy Roberts of Chadron, NE and Daughter Cecelia Neill and Husband Terry of Loveland, CO.  She was proceeded in death by son Jerald Dunn. She is also survived by her Grandchildren Amie Neill Boss/Phil Loring of Loveland, Leslie Dunn of Montgomery TX and Pamela Neill Bricker and Husband Matt of Colorado Springs, CO; Great Grand Children Bill, Jerrod and Daniel Bricker of Colorado Springs, Carissa Boss of Loveland and Brenna Boss Orosco and husband Daniel of Twentynine Palms, CA; and Great Great Grandson Lyndyn Todd Lambert, son of Carissa of Loveland, CO.

Burial was concluded on February 8, 2019 at Resthaven Memorial Garden, Fort Collins. A Memorial Service will be February 22, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loveland, CO, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, of Loveland or a charity of your choice.
