Born as a spook on Halloween in 1946, Donnie Wallace Graham passed not a fool on April’s Fools Day 2019.
Donnie was born and raised in Murray, Iowa. He served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967. On April 13, 1968, he married Vickie Joan Richardson. While living in Osceola, they had two daughters, Regina and Renee. They decided to venture to Colorado and settled in Loveland where they had another daughter, Stephanie.
Donnie was a general contractor and owned his own contractor company with a specialization in concrete. On any given truck ride with him, he would fill his passengers with stories behind buildings and land along the Colorado Front Range and Southern Iowa and everywhere in between that he had either built or poured the concrete.
Donnie was an amazing mushroom hunter. He was known for pulling over on the side of road and hopping a fence to find his quest. He rarely came back empty handed and loved to share his prize. He was an avid gardener. He grew more food than he needed and always fed his family and friends with the fruits of his labor.
After his beloved wife, Vickie, died in 1998, Donnie found love again. He married Debra Powell in August 2007. They made their home in Garden Grove, Iowa. When he found out that he only had a few weeks to live, Donnie decided to die in his home surrounded by his daughters and wife.
Donnie is survived by his second wife, Debra; his daughters: Regina Graham of Raleigh, North Carolina; Renee (David) Coley of Kearney, Missouri and Stephanie (Geoff) Rankin of Cedar Park, Texas; his grandchildren: Briggs and Sophia Pratt; Brittany and Bronsan Coley and Tori and Emma Rankin; and one great-grandchild: Kaison Coley. Donnie had two step children: Heather Kline and Toby Powell and two grandchildren from Heather: Tyler Goben and Emily Kline.
Donnie came from a large family. He is survived by siblings; Henry Graham, Ruby Halliburton, Arnolene Hull, Shirley (Dennis) King, Dean (Donna) Graham, Carolyn (Don) Eblen, Betty (Bill) Spire, Patsy (Dick) Istas and Billy (Rhonda) Graham. He was a favorite uncle to his vast array of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arno and Helen (Burke) Graham and his brother, Ronnie.
