Donald “Don” Franklin McKean, 60, was surrounded by his family on Sept 1, 2019 when he was called home to be with his Lord and savior. Don was born on July 24, 1959 in Denver, CO to Shirley Jo Asnicar and Donald Franklin Mickey. Don enlisted in the Navy after high school. He pursued a career in insurance sales and after many years also enjoyed a career as a security professional.
Don met his wife Diana “Diane” Ramona Salazar in 1988. They have had a loving relationship for many years and have enjoyed their travels to California coast, Las Vegas, New York City, Niagara Falls, Washington DC, Mexico and Europe. Don loved swimming in the ocean and could look at the ocean endlessly. He played classical guitar beautifully and had a passion for cooking.
It comforts his wife and family to know God’s loving arms are wrapped around him. He had a passion for the word of God and had read the Holy Bible several times. He will live forever in their hearts which are overflowing with sweet memories and laughter. His laugh was contagious, and he loved a great conversation. “I love you” was easy for Don to say to family and friends followed by big hugs. He touched many lives and was loved by all who met him.
Don is survived by his loving wife Diane whom he adored and cherished; his brothers Charles Eugene McCourt (Helen), Bruce Allen Mickey, and Shawnn Lee Fredrickson (Margot); his sister Audra Lynn Fredrickson; his mother Shirley Asnicar; and many nephews and nieces. Survivors also include Lisa Marie Trujillo, Denise Nicole Trujillo, and Audrey Rene Taylor who he helped raise with his prior wife Lynnda Newcomb. Don was preceded in death by his father Donald Mickey.
