David Leroy Goldsmith passed away in hospice care at North Shore Nursing on February 5, 2020. David was born on June 3, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Orphaned at the hospital his early years were in foster care and a Minneapolis orphanage until adopted by Pastor William and Bertha Goldsmith.
David joined an older brother, William in the Goldsmith home. The pair grew up in West Union, Iowa where their father was pastor of the Wesleyan church.
David’s father moved the family to Miltonville, Kansas taking a position at the Wesleyan school located there where David received his education and was active in sports. Later in life David continued his education at other institutions pursuing degrees psychology and theology.
Both being recently widowed, David met and married Maxine (Brown) Wilkins on February 14, 2009 in Loveland, Colorado where the couple remained until his passing.
David was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill, first wife Janet and daughter Linda, wives Barbara and Joan and a step-son Ronald Wilkins.
David is survived by his stepson Larry Newman; wife Maxine, her children Kevin (Cindy) Wilkins, Janet (Danny) Reneau as well as a total of 17 step grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for David will be held on Saturday, February 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Baptist Church, 5688 McWhinney Blvd, Loveland, Colorado. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Baptist Church.
