Daniel "Dan" Floyd Lester, 76, passed away August 31, 2019 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Loveland, Colorado.
Dan was born on January 23, 1943 in Phoenix, Arizona to Edward and Edna Lester. They moved around some before making a home in Westminster, Colorado. There he met the love of his life, Janet, while attending Westminster High School together. They both graduated in 1961. They later married on February 14, 1964 and have been married for 55 years. Dan attended CU in Boulder in 1961 and worked jobs locally in Westminster until he entered the Army in 1966. He and Janet were stationed in Colleen, Texas and there they had their first child, a son they name Chris, on November 25, 1967. Shortly after his birth, Dan was sent to Vietnam. He was an outstanding soldier for his country and became sergeant along with being a sharp shooter and the Head of Artillery of the Howitzer Cannon Division. After his time spent in Vietnam, he and his little family returned to Colorado and Dan worked at Norgrens doing assembly work with his brother-in-law Elmer. On August 18, 1971 Dan and Janet welcomed their second child, a daughter they name Lori, in Westminster, Colorado. Shortly after her birth, Dan got a job with Kodak and later transferred to the Windsor, Colorado plant in 1974. They made their home in Loveland, Colorado from there on out. Dan loved to fish, especially fly fish, and spent many weekends on the Poudre River relaxing. Dan worked for Kodak for 34 years prior to retirement.
He and Janet had a wonderful life of traveling, watching the Broncos, going for daily drives and eating at out at their favorite restaurants. They were always together. Dan loved his country and loved his family dearly.
Dan is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janet; his son Chris who had preceded him in death on November 20, 2014; his daughter Lori and boyfriend A.J.; his grand-daughter McKenna, and great-grandson Asher. Dan was so proud to be a husband, father, grandfather and especially a great-grandfather to Asher.
