Cheryl Lee Schultz (Nansel) was born April 21, 1949 in Columbus, Nebraska to Harold and Bernice Nansel. She grew up in Waverly, Nebraska with her 9 brothers and sisters. She graduated from Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska where she studied to be an early childhood and elementary teacher. It is also where she met her husband, Clifford A. Schultz. The two met while singing together in the Acapella Choir and were married July 17, 1971 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with three sons; Jeremy, Matthew, and Caleb as well as three grandchildren; Micah, Ella and Hannah, with a fourth expected next April.
Cheryl served as a Preschool, Kindergarten, and Elementary teacher in Niagara Falls, New York and St. Louis, Missouri before moving to Colorado in 1980. She continued her career as a teacher at Immanuel Lutheran in Loveland, Trinity Lutheran in Greeley, and Redeemer Lutheran in Fort Collins.
Cheryl enjoyed camping, crafting and spending time with family and friends. She also loved to sew and quilt, making countless quilts for her home, her family and for families in need. She could often be found quilting or sewing while listening to or watching her beloved Rockies, Broncos, or any other sporting event that happened to be on at the time.
Cheryl entered into eternal victory at her home in Loveland on Monday, October 29, 2018 after courageously battling pancreatic cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church (7755 Greenstone Trail, Ft. Collins, CO 80525) on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The Schultz Family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Redeemer Early Childhood Center to honor Cheryl’s tireless and joyful work of educating and inspiring the next generation.
