Betty Jean Newcomb passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 in Loveland, Colorado. She was born in Beloit, Kansas on November 17, 1929 to Stanley and Olive Davidson who preceded her in death along with her brothers Thorval, Darrell and her sister Francis.
She is survived by her loving husband Fred Newcomb, sister Connie and her partner Ron, brother Bob and his wife Sandy, sister in-law Rosemary, daughter Kathy and her husband Dave, son Tom and his wife Maru, grandchildren Kerri and her husband Dale, Brandi, Justin, Delaine, great grandchildren, Cameron, Nichole, Heather, Ashley, Cody, Shyanne, Colten and great great grandchildren Domenick, Aiyana, Tyson, Aliyah, Ezekiel and Calliope along with many special nieces and nephews.
Betty graduated from Longmont High School and later attended cosmetology school receiving her license becoming an instructor and business owner.
Betty and Fred were married at the First Christian Church in Longmont, CO on July 19, 1964 which is the Life Bridge Church of today. During their years together they did missionary work as house parents in Cookson Hills, OK where they also worked to build housing for the families there. They impacted the lives of many children during this time. Later they moved to Greeley and then Loveland. During their time together they adopted many doggies into their lives that became members of the family.
Betty’s hobbies included sewing, quilting, crocheting, ceramics, cooking and many other things. She was also a collector of paper doll and dolls. She was a member of Doll Clubs in both Greeley and Loveland.
Betty suffered a debilitating stroke in 2009 and once again became an inspiration to her family as she fought to reteach herself to not only communicate but to sew, crochet and so many other things.
A celebration of her life will be held at the LifeBridge Church in Longmont, CO on August 2, 2019 at 10:30am followed by a luncheon reception and burial at the Foothills Gardens of Memory at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations in her memory go to Pathways Hospice of Northern Colorado or Animal House Rescue in Fort Collins, CO.
