Ambrose “Andy” Gross, 89, of Loveland, CO died October 22, 2018 at the Berthoud Living Center in Berthoud, CO. He was born April 22, 1929 to Carl and Barbara (Heilman) Gross in Hague, ND.
Ambrose enlisted in the U.S. Army in June of 1950. After basic and advanced training, he was sent to Korea and fought in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir that lasted from November 26 to December 13, 1950, during very harsh winter weather with improper clothing. He also fought in several other major battles during his tour of duty. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman Badge. He also served a tour of duty in Germany.
After retiring from the Boeing Company in Portland, OR, Ambrose and his wife Kathy moved to Loveland, CO.
Survivors include his daughter Judith Jasperson of Oak Park, CA; granddaughters and several great-grandchildren; step-daughters Tammy Zimmerman of Loveland, CO, Debbie Mitchell of Greeley, CO and Jennifer Criter of Illinois; step-son Rick Miller of Loveland, CO; brothers Claude Gross of Rapid City, SD, Tony Gross of Wishek, ND, Aluys and Marge Gross of South Milwaukee, WI, Robert and Lori Gross of Milwaukee, OR; sisters Agnes Janusiak of Oak Creek, WI, Clara and Jack Bauer of Berlin, WI and Darlene and Paul Pritchett of Mission, TX. Ambrose is also survived by 11 step grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren and 3 step great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, brothers Matt, Edmund, Pius and Joe, and step-daughter Karla.
Memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:00am with reception immediately following mass. Graveside services at Loveland Burial Park at 1:00pm following the reception.
